I was in the same situation last month and tested a few options. If you want to avoid expensive roaming fees, an eSIM is the best choice. There is no physical SIM swap, instant activation, and it is way cheaper than most local plans.
Some providers like YohoMobile even have discount codes floating around. I found ESIM4TRAVEL via a travel blog and it worked.

download WhatsApp to your cellphone. You'll be able to talk / text for free with family/friends at home who also have that app. You'd be using your local wifi in Europe or separately purchased data.

for 2 weeks, get esim: Airalo or Saily, or physical sim card like Three network, you can buy from Amazon before you trip

PM cannot help with that, they have no roaming service
best is to use travel esim like Airalo if your phone supports esim. If not, buy local data sim
