Recently had to swap my sim card into my old blackberry and it is asking for a sim unlock pin. Any ideas how to get the pin?

Those older Blackberry devices could also use BIS for data, not that Public Mobile worked with either.

@softech- Talk/text/data all fine. It was the yet older OS that used BES. That has always been a limitation here as mentioned in their fine print.
Adding - but that was for data. I would assume talk and text worked. edited before I saw the next reply

@dust2dust cool, i was wondering about that too
So, I guess voice still work.. how about data? it wont work as data needs BES, right?

@softech- My old BB OS10 still works fine with a Public sim in. Just no OS or security updates anymore. Nor did it ask for a pin.

Unless you have changed it, the PIN for your SIM card would be 1234. However, if the phone is making mention of the SIM network unlock PIN or the MEP, thhis would confirm that the other members' thinking that the phone is locked to another carrier.

@JP181329 What kind of Blackberry do you have? Unless it is the newer one like KeyOne or KeyTow, many of the older BB no longer work

That means your phone is locked to your old provider. Call them with your IMEI# to get the unlocking code.

@JP181329 @Contract the original provider of the phone for an unlock code
