I have an old locked iPhone 6 and I can't activate my new Public Mobile SIM card b/c the phone is locked... Help? Thanks!

Since you have an iPhone you do not need a code. You have to find what carrier the phone was purchased from. Then contact the carrier and they will send a request to Apple to unlock it. Some carriers are no longer cooperating and require for you to have service with them for 90 days before unlocking. Do you know the carrier? Was there an old SIM in the phone? Or try imei here https://imei24.com/check/iphone_lock_checker/ It may tell you the lock status or what carrier it is on.

@LRosevear , phone unlock codes are supplied through the carrier that sold the device in accordance with section F of the wireless code.
