Sorry misread your comment then you have the 3 options to have the iPhone unlocked.

Yes, I agree it is not SIM card locked.

I understand you got it from private sell, you can ask the person and ask him to arrange an unlock?

You might be able to check the original carrier of the phone here:

https://www.imei.info/carriers/canada/

Ohh, it is SIM locked.

You will need to contact a CS_Agent for a PUK (Pin unblocking key) by private messaging (envelope icon top of this page)

is it really sim locked?  If it is sim lock, when you power on the phone, it will ask you for SIM PIN or SIM PUK (depends if you already failed too many times)

and OP already said SIM works on another phone, so, it is not sim lock

Ohh, it is SIM locked.

You will need to contact a CS_Agent for a PUK (Pin unblocking key) by private messaging (envelope icon top of this page) or SIMon Chatbot (bottom of this page and type in Create a Ticket for PUK) on this Community page.

I hope this helps and get you running.

thanks,

It doesn't say anything.

when I use PM SIM than it is PM if I don't use any it says not available

@Dochees

You have 3 options:

-You can try getting the seller to have it unlocked.

- You can go to the carrier to have it unlocked but you will need the seller’s account number

- You can pay at a mom and pop cell repair shop to have it unlocked.

Who is the carrier listed on the phone?

Carrier lock says SIM locked, I've instaled the latest version of IOS. I should try to contact the seller and ask about the previous carrier...

 thanks!

@Dochees  -

So you checked if your iPhone is locked, by openings Settings and tap General -> About -> Carrier Lock.

AND - it did not say "No SIM Restrictions" ?

If phone is locked can you go to the buyer and ask them to unlock it for you you?

Or, find out who the previous provider was and go to that provider to have them unlock it.

Remember to check for latest ios updates.

I'll try that

Very unlikely they will unlock it for you if you are not the owner using that carrier. You might be able to find out by calling Bell or Rogers. You might be able to use a third party to get an unlock code via the internet.

Edit: The person/place you got the phone from can they help you out?

@Dochees strange, we just saw another member with a iphone issue with no service:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Get-Support/iPhone-says-no-service/td-p/814301

Can you please ensure other active provider's SIM cards work in this phone?

And, you Public Mobile SIM card works in other phones, does it?

To check if your iPhone is locked, open Settings and tap General -> About -> Carrier Lock. An unlocked iPhone will say No SIM Restrictions.

If not locked, ensure you have the latest software installed, and try performing a reset of the device's network settings with the Public Mobile SIM card inside.

This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

To Reset Network Settings, begin by opening the Settings app. Next, tap General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. and enter your passcode.

Your iPhone will reset network settings and restart itself.

@computergeek541 help, edit please!

@Dochees please remove your device information from your post.

Contact your previous provider to unlock it for you. You will need your imei number, dial *#06# to get it.

To be sure, maybe also check if your phone is blacklisted here: https://www.devicecheck.ca/check-status-device-canada/

@Dochees

Where did you buy the iPhone? From a retailer or privately?

What model iPhone is it?

It might be locked by a carrier or Blacklisted  reported stolen or lost.

You can check if it is Blacklisted on:

https://www.devicecheck.ca/check-status-device-canada/

You can find your IMEI by dialing *#06#

To check to see if it is locked by a carrier. Go to Settings>General>Carrier Lock… It should say No SIM restrictions.
