Unable to receive texts unless on Wi-Fi

Flores

I've gone through all the community threads, but cannot resolve this issue.

I've used my Moto G5 without a problem on public mobile for over a year.

I cannot receive sms texts if I am not on wifi.  I am using the Google sms text app and had the same problem when I switched to a different sms app. ( Textra)

Network reset, APN settings are correct, have suspended service and restarted service, mobile data is on, roaming on and off ( no change).  I also did that thing where I chose a different phone provider and then re-chose Public mobile

My phone still works for calls.

Any ideas on how to help?

maybe try this and try to tinker with your settings:

Settings > Data Usage > Cellular Data (some phones may say Mobile Data).
Another may be Settings > More > Cellular Data

HI @Flores ,

If your Chat Features are on, turn them off.

Disable your Chat Features:

  1. Open Messages
  2. Tap More options > Settings > Chat features
  3. Turn Enable chat features off

@Flores

Hi, I found this article from The Droid Guy, it may help.

www.thedroidguy.com/cannot-send-receive-messages-motorola-moto-g5-easy-steps-1080782

Look at the 3rd solution, to clear app cache and data.

Hi @Flores according to this article Can’t Receive Text Messages on Moto G

If you have service on your Moto G but can’t receive text messages, the only way to fix this issue is by performing a factory reset

I hope this helps

This isn't a Public Mobile issues. SMS text messaging does not use an internet connection of any kind. Do you have an RCS setting enabled?  Try turning that off.
