I just signed up for PM today and tried porting my Koodo number so I could use it on PM. I did this through Koodo self-serve. Afterwards, my Koodo SIM was successfully overwritten by my PM number but my PM SIM doesn't connect and my Koodo number (the one I actually wanted to keep) is nowhere to be found! What should I do?

It's a good idea to review the thread from the start when replying, to be sure you've got the issue right. Your advice does not apply to the OP's situation, which was not just a port. They accidentally ported their PM number to Koodo when they actually wanted to do the opposite. The issue was getting the port reversed if possible, and retrieving the lost Koodo number, not a simple thing to accomplish while keeping the accounts intact, because porting a number normally closes the account from which the number comes. It's not clear what exactly customer support from either side can or will do in situations like this.
@y5g4 If possible, could you please share with us all that was done by customer support from either side (even if PM/Koodo said they specifically can't do something, that's useful to know). Did they try to reverse the mistaken port? Were you able to retrieve your lost Koodo phone number that you originally wanted to port? It would be helpful to know what's possible when the community encounters similar situations in future.

we had alot of trouble porting our number over, but went to the mobile shop (Canada) where they set up all sorts of plans including public mobile accounts. the lady was really helpful and was able to contact someone on the phone who could port our number over. apparently the port was delayed as they have issues with koodo ports. shop keeper said it would take 3 days. it did exactly that and now we are enjoying our pm plan. if you have a mobile shop in your town that sets up plans with multiple companies, give it a try.
hope that helps.

It was a terrible experience for me. I did not get any help from public Mobile. I did not get a chance to use the service and they still charge me!
I will never recommend Public Mobile to anyone.

You probably have better luck with koodo’s tech support line, since they have access to your information

Unfortunately all the stores closed for today. I'll have to come back tomorrow and hope they can undo it and still give me the promotion.

Make sure you are going to a Koodo store. As far as Public Mobile is concerned you are no longer a customer.

Did you get your original Koodo number back? (if you haven't left already 🙂 )

I already paid for it. I'm going back to the store now to see if they can straighten it out.

Unfortunately not. You need to use PM self-serve to initiate the port.
Your PM account was canceled after you port your PM number to Koodo.
You old Koodo number was gone and replaced by your PM number.
If your old Koodo number is from Telus/Koodo/PM family of mobile provider, you can ask Koodo to get it back. If you ported your old number to Koodo from the Rogers/Fido/Chatr/Bell/Virgin/Lucky, your old number was gone back to the other provider and Koodo cannot get it back for you.
You need to activate another PM account again ASAP before stores close for the day in order to get the bonus 5GB data.

It is the carrier that you want the phone number to be ported into that is supposed to submit the request. What you did was transfer a phone number the other direction. Sorry, but your Public Mobile account is closed. You'll have to sign up again from scratch.

Maybe you got things confused with the fact that you need moderator assistance here for porting from Koodo prepaid.

I hope your Koodo phone number originated in the Telus family.

You made a mistake unfortunately. You should have ported your number from your Public Mobile self service account. What you did was you ported your public mobile number into your Koodo account (opposite to what you wanted to do). By porting PM number over to Koodo, your PM number/account got closed. Your old Koodo number got replaced by PM number.
I would call Koodo to explain your situation to see whether they can restore your Koodo number.
You could contact PM moderator, but the response times are 1-2 days.

Oh dear.
That's a mess. Porting numbers is a pull function...not push. ie. at the new provider, you pull the number from the old provider.
I think you're going to need Koodo to at least get your original number back and maybe you'll have to get a new PM SIM. But your stuff sounds like its pretty confused.
Edit: (and then I saw Dunkmans reply) Your initial PM account would now be closed too. Basically, you ported your PM number onto your Koodo account.
