USA Data - Talk - Text

Finally switched from Telus to PM December 2024. Subscribed to 50 GB data, Canada - USA - Mexico talk & text @ $35.00 per month + HST. A bit confused about travelling to USA. Currently own an iPhone 12 Model # MGHN3VC/A running IOS 18.2. If I go to USA, what needs to be done to iPhone settings so that I do not get additional charges? I have assumed that if I go to USA, 50 GB is limit of the plan & I can make calls with no additional subscriptions required & no additional costs.

@ADR1   What phones do you both have?  If your wife's phone isn't VoLTE capable and Public Mobile approved she is unlikely to be able to make or receive voice calls (except where some T-Mobile 2G network remains).   However, if it's a VoLTE problem her data should still work assuming data roaming is turned on.  Are both phones set to 4G/LTE and not 5G or 3G?  Here's the VoLTE list

my wife and I are on the Public Mobile Canada/USA/Mexico plan, my phone works fine with Data and calling in the USA, but my wife's phone does not, how can I fix it?

@pbudreski   The plan works the same in both Canada and the US, since your phone is VoLTE approved by Public Mobile you should just need to turn on data roaming.  There are no extra charges, Public Mobile is prepaid so if anything isn't paid for up front it just won't work.  The only other thing you might need to do depending on US carrier is change the settings from 5G to LTE if it doesn't work on 5G.  If you use up all your 50GB it will just stop working for data.
