I would appreciate knowing how to turn off my voicemail temporarily, as I have a troublesome caller that leaves voice mails even though number is blocked. Also, is there an app that would help me with stopping blocked callers being able to leave voice messages? That way I won’t have to disable my voice mail. Thank you for helping me.

The fix of entering
*004*8080000000# works. The phone continues to ring and no voicemail

There is no real way to "turn off", but you can use this trick instead:
to "disable" voicemail, on your dial pad dial: *004*8080000000#
This will cause all calls to either ring forever or get fast busy at the point they normally would have been diverted to the voicemail system.
To reset it back to defaults, dial ##004#
