Tried to activate a new plan on an iPad. Now I'm stuck in a loop.

My wife and I decided that our son needed to have an ipad with a data plan, but in order to do that, we'd have to  go with one of the big carriers and get him a phone plan first and then an ipad data add-on.

Out of curiosity, I put my daughter's Public sim into the ipad, changed a setting, and voila - data worked.

Next, I activated a plan for the ipad using its esim. Here are the problems I'm running into now:

1) I can't get into the account, because Public sends a OTP to the number attached to the esim, and iPads can't receive text messages.

2) He can't connect to the internet any longer. We set this up so that he could access his google calendar and book Para Transpo (our local public transport for people with disabilities) among other things. I assumed that the plan I purchased for him would go to a lower speed if he uses all the data, but now I'm worried that it's a hard data cap - which I can't even check, because I can't get into the account because reason #1 above.

I'd be happy to cancel the service and try again with a physical sim, but....again....reason 1. I don't know what to do.

hi @travislmartin

thanks for reporting back

so, now with the one time verification done, you can go back to the iPad and get the esim on it again

and after a first time verification, you can redirect the 2FA sms to another phone number, another one that not linked to any EverSafe account.  Just go to My Account, Manage EverSafe ID and change phone number

or if you don't want to change the phone number, then whenever you need to login My Account, you will need to use email to get the code, you can click Didn't receive code and then send email

An agent was able to help me. I ended up purchasing a physical sim, and he kindle transferred the service to that one. I plugged the sim into my phone and was able to get the OTP to complete the one-time verification.

Thanks you two. I sent a message as suggested and will post the response once I get it.

For iPad using PM, usually PM suggest to activate the it with physical sim card first and get the First OTP completed, then you can move to esim after

But you have esim already, so, we need to ask if PM can help to bypass it.   You won't be able to open proper Chatbot ticket, so just message them

and please come back and update us what PM says

HI @travislmartin

i don't think you need to cancel it, the 2FA verification to SMS only is a one time thing

ask support agent to help, you can submit  ticket by direct message:
