Transferring my current number into PM

utbhattarai

Currently, I'm using Lucky Mobile, and I want to switch to Public Mobile with the same number, so I would like to know the process of doing so. Actually, I don't even know if the porting process is done after receiving the SIM or before ordering it.

I'll be extremely thankful if someone explains the full process.

So would I.....if the community worked that way but more often than not you get no explanation and just this.....

Sadly, I concur that observation to likely be accurate, @darlicious

However, it's PM's issue to manage the veracity of a reported 'crime' within the Community, not mine.

If a thoughtful/learned PM staffer were to review the thread of this correspondence and find any parts of it to be inconsistent with the terms of this Community, I'd be fine with them FIRST apprising me of this, and SECOND making the necessary amendments to my posts.

Heck, I'd even strike them out if formally requested.

Until then, so be it.

@HALIMACS

They are not as thoughtful as you think if the reporter has an agenda? 🫤

You're flying close to the sun.....pm has confirmed that referral code requests be conducted via private message initiated by the customer seeking the referral code. There have been members banned for less.....? 🤔

@darlicious

... nowhere close to the sun.   Still 3rd rock from it ..

Following the thread of discussion, there was no solicitation.

My last comment was to propose the OP themselves provide their own referral code to others they know for their mutual benefit.  That's not the comment of a user abusing solicitation of referral codes.

Surely a thoughtful PM staffer would see that accordingly.

Still, appreciate you staying atop of this stuff for the benefit of the Community.

Thank you!!!   🙂

@utbhattarai

I have a slight variation to port in your phone number. I prefer to activate the pm Sim card with a temporary phone number (usually from Alberta so as to pay gst only on your plan amount). Then once you finish activation and you can confirm all of your services (call/text/data) are working you can port your phone number in thru your self serve account's profile page's change number feature. Remove the pm Sim card and replace it with your lucky Sim card to authorize the port request as outlined previously.

@utbhattarai

As requested, I sent you my referral code.   To receive it, click on the envelope icon top right and you can review my message.

I will add, however, that if you want to refer your OWN two friends, you can use your own referral code after you activate here.

It'll be on your self-serve landing page on a rotating picture lower right.  Be sure to copy/paste the referral code into a text or e-mail, and provide it to them.

Of course, if you want to use mine, I'm fine with that too!!!

I'm sorry @HALIMACS Actually my sister uses PM else you'd have been my very first priority. However, two of my friends also want to switch so I can give them your referral code.

Also, @utbhattarai

If you need a referral code from a member here (if you don't already have one from a family or friend), just ask and we'll gladly oblige.

It'll save each of us some money.  😉

You want to first confirm your number is eligible to port onto PM first here:

confirm your number is eligible to port into PM (it is a Koodo site because both Koodo and PM use the same Telus system):
https://secure.koodomobile.com/checktransfereligibilityparrot/checkSingle.do

Then, make sure your old provider account is still active.  Login to your old provider account and make note of the account number

Next, get a Public Mobile sim card from

Once you have the sim card, activate your account at https://activate.publicmobile.ca/.  You will request to Transfer your exiting number instead of picking a new number.  Please provide your current phone number and the account number of the old provider as the porting info.

Once activation completed , still have the old provider sim card in your phone.  Your old provider will send you a SMS and ask your permission for the porting.  You need to reply YES within 90 mins for the porting to complete

Once replied yes, you can put your PM sim card in a phone and wait for incoming calls to come.  Reboot your phone ever 30 mins and test incoming call from another line.  If incoming call reaches your PM sim card, then the Porting is completed

@utbhattarai

Once you've obtained a Public Mobile SIM card (TELUS, Koodo, or Mobile Klinik), go to the Activation tab above, e-mail address and credit card in hand, and proceed to Activate.  https://activate.publicmobile.ca/

To port number from prior provider, make sure to have that service's account number on hand to identify on the activation screen.  PM needs this to request the port from Lucky Mobile.

Then, after you process the payment, put make sure to LEAVE the Lucky SIM card in the device until you get the port authorization text, reply YES, then replace with the Public Mobile SIM card.

Reboot the device, and you're good to go!!!
