I'm going to be going to the USA and live in Canada.  Can I text home from there with international texting?

A free workarounds is to download a free VoIP app TextNow.  You will get to pick a new 10 digits phone number.  People can text and call you on this new number and you will recieve it on the app.  You can then call and reply on the app back .  The app will work as long as you have Wifi  or Mobile Data.

@jennmoore122512  you need a US roaming package while in the US but  from here in Canada you  may text US

you need to purchase the 15 days US roaming add-ons to receive/send texts/calls in the US and to call/text to Canada,

@jennmoore122512 - in order to text from USA to Canada you need a Roaming addon that includes texting added to your account by purchasing it through your My Account.

No. You would need at least the talk/text bundle to send texts using the Public services.
