TELUS- Unkown- Network not available

ekioussis
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

Just activated SIM and put it new unlocked Archos Smartohone. All software up to date. Says NO AVAILABLE NETWORK on homescreen and TELUS- Unknown under network setting. SIM status setting says UKNOWN. Very frustrating.

Please let me know how to return and cancel account if I can't get this working.

It looks like alot of Archos phones have minimal compatiability with the Rogers network and none with Telus network. So I would assume compatiability issue until OP states which model he has and can be shown that his phone is one of the models that does support Telus network.

@ekioussis
Public Mobile works on following frequencies:
For 3G use (UMTS/HSPA): 850MHz/1900MHz bands
For 4G/LTE use: 1700MHz/2100MHz bands
For 4G/LTE use: 700 MHz band

Compare your phone frequencies and see if it is compatible.

Hi. May be try to install your SIM card into some other known brand (Samsung, IPhone) that your family or friends got? If  working there then probably you do have compatibility issues. Good luck.

@ekioussis Quickest test: put your activated PM SIM into a phone that does work on Telus/Koodo.

By any chance are you transfering a number to PM?

Check your model on this website for compatibility: https://willmyphonework.net

@ekioussis@srlawren Sorry, my fault! Those phones that I have checked at first were compatible, but when I started to check others they were not.

@LEGO I see nearly 40 models listed here:  https://www.gsmarena.com/archos-phones-90.php.  Are you saying you've checked all of Archos' smartphones and they all features UMTS 850MHz + 1900MHz (Band2, Band5) required for talk, text, and HSPA+ speed data?

Well, I have checked frequencies of Archos smartphones and they are compatible with Telus / Public Mobile.

@ekioussis the two most likely issues are:

1) Phone is not compatible with Public Mobile's (Telus') network or

2) Phone is carrier-locked to some other networked

As @will13am mentioned, if you can give us the model number, we can help you decide if #1 is the cause or not.  If it's not, then you would need to contact the carrier that provided the phone and get it unlocked.

@ekioussis, please provide the model number is the phone in question.  I haven't heard of this obscure brand before.  I suspect that there could be compatibility issues here.
