Switching numbers with another from another provider

I'm looking to swap with my wife who is with Freedom Mobile. Essentially, I want to have my number onto her Freedom account, and her number on my Public account. I don't want to switch or cancel as much as possible as we are happy with the plans we have now.

How can I work with the two providers to make this happen?

Reason for anyone curious is because she gets no service in a place she frequently goes to, where I do. My phone that's on Public is a backup phone while I my main phone is a work phone that also has good coverage there. So it won't matter if my backup phone has no service in that area.

If you are happy with your pm plan then opening an account with pm for your wife as @Anonymous has suggested is the best idea. Unless your number originally came from freedom. Then you ask freedom to hold your number once it's released back to them by porting your wife's number into your pm account. You could ask freedom ahead of time if they could then assign the number to your wife's freedom account if they are willing to leave the account open after her number is ported out.

The Public Mobile marketing department has stated that June 30 is not the end date, and only that this is a limited time offer.

@Slash  Basically have to open a new PM account and a new Freedom account.  Of course, new accounts will lost all the reward and benefits from the old accounts.  And if you have grandfather plans from either side, they will be gone and you will have to select current plans

1. Create a new PM account, request porting the Freedom number into this new PM account. You can use the Referral code from your current PM account to save $10.  Your Freedom account will be closed when this is completed

2. Create a new Freedom account, request porting your current PM number into Freedom.  Your PM account will be closed when this is completed

Whenever a number is ported out to another carrier, the account that the phone number came from automatically closes. The phone number that was at the carrier/account phone number that gets ported into will also be lost.

Make sure that you have the old sim card in your phone when you're porting your phone. You should get a message from your old carrier asking to confirm if you would like to port your number. Your reply should be: YES. 

The confirmation message can take a few minutes to come in.

You have 90 minutes from the time of request.

It is not possible to switch phone numbers between 2 accounts.

You use your wife Freedom SIM card your wife use your PM SIM card.

After a month, everything will be normal again.
