I've been with PM for a very long time now and feel that the speed of the service is outdated. How do we get 4g service and catch up with the rest of the world. Its like we're using dial up while everyone else has high speed cable.

That’s my thought as well @LeePublic . Sooner or later as the 5G rollout continues and the 3G network disappears, there almost have to be some changes here at PM. It definitely won’t be changes bringing PM up to on par with Telus or even Koodo but logically will increase the data speeds at least somewhat. And they will have to allow VoLTE. Whether This happens soon if not and whether they make any other changes at the same time remains to be seen. But the way I understand it they will have to allow VoLTE soon.

3rd tier carriers are targeted at people who are generally light to med. users or those who are looking for the lowest priced plans like students. They'll likely keep the 3G speeds, but I hope there will be a boost in data caps or introduce unlimited data @ 3G speeds soon as we enter a 5G revolution.

3rd tier service will prob keep 3G until it is dead. There are some things definitely effected but that is part of the trade off for the pricing/rewards

@craigf85 Telus and Koodo could be your choice then as they both have 4G plans.
Telus owns both Koodo and PM , so you could be changing provider but the money goes to the same place 🙂
And no, at the moment, PM has only throttled 4G connection, capped at 3Mpbs. So, if you find the speed is an issue, you might need to move.
However, did you try changing to 3G Only ? It can go up to 12Mps or more. Maybe that is a "cheap" alternative for now. And you sure your issue is with the bandwidth on 4G? You have the same trouble with the slow Mobile Data in different area?

@craigf85 if you don't like them and I can't say I blame you maybe try koodo, my son seems to like them and they have some cheaper plans now

@craigf85 i wish we could but I think you will need to switch providers for that 😒
