I’ve recently switched from freedom to public but can’t recurve calls or texts anymore.

I assume you mean receive calls or texts. So, the question is this. If you place your Freedom SIM card in the phone, does it still work? If so, the port wasn't 100% successful and you need to reach out to customer service here at PM. If it doesn't work, then remove your Freedom SIM card, make sure the only SIM or eSIM is the PM one. Then, go into your settings and reset your Network Settings. This will clear any Freedom info left behind that is messing with the PM network info. Then reboot your phone. This should get your PM phone working. Worse case, you can place into Airplane mode for 10 minutes, turn off for 5 and then restart the phone. Turn off airplane mode and it will reconnect you to the PM network.
