My sim card suddenly isn't working, I have been using this sim for over 3 years now

How can this be fixed

Thanks

@Ono  When I get the sim, what would I need to do

You just log in to your existing account, go to the current sim card number and edit it to the new sim card number.  Insert the sim and restart the phone and it should work.

@Sansan   The esim should self install shouldn't it?   I didn't think you needed to change the number in that case.

There is no option for e-sim on the app, the web page redirects me to the app

I would like to know what the process is if I am to purchase on Amazon, as it can be delivered by tomorrow

When you click on purchase physical card, then there should be another tab or drop down that shows the eSIM option.

To link either one to your account, you would have to go into the Profile tab and there you will see the last 4 digit of the current one and click on it to change it. Sometimes you're not even to do yourself so you would have to contact the cs agents to update for you through the chatbot.

@BKNS27   I don't think the OP needs to contact customer service since it's not a new account.  Just following the instructions for changing from sim to esim here

  1. Log into the Public Mobile app or My Account.
  2. Navigate to the 'Account' tab.
  3. Choose 'Purchase SIM Card.'
  4. Opt for 'eSIM.'
  5. Confirm your payment method.
  6. Select 'Pay and Install' to finalize the switch.
  7. You can remove your SIM card. It is no longer required after the eSIM is activated

@Ono  If you have trouble logging in because you can't get the authentication code due to no sim, tap on "didn't get the code" to get it by email.  This is assuming you can still get access over wifi.

my account is active, it'll renew in 2 days

I downloaded the app, the only option is to purchase a physical sim, I don't see the e-sim option

how does it work, if I buy from Amazon, I guess it's a physical sim card I'll receive, how do I link it with my current phone number?

@Ono

Google 8 is eSIM compatible but to double check by going to Setting and if there is Add eSIM setting then it is compatible.

You will need to contact a CS_Agent if there is an Add eSIM setting.

If there is no Add eSIM setting. You need to purchase a new SIM and transfer the old SIM S/N to the new SIM S/N.

@Ono

Pixel 8 is esim compatible. I have a pixel 7A. Good luck.

@Ono  You can also get Public Mobile physical sim cards in person from corporate Telus/Koodo stores or Mobile Klinik.  But you can certainly try esim first as it would be immediate.

Oh no!! Sorry to hear that!!

Yes it should use esim. Do you know the status of your account? When was the last time you made a payment? Could that be why your phone is not working? Did you log into your Account and check payment history? Or call from another phone to check 1855 4public.

If you download the public mobile app on your phone, you can go  the Account tab, purchase SIM, purchase eSIM, and then it will check to see if compatible and download it.

If not get one from  Amazon for 4.99

@Ono

Try resetting network connections in your settings and rebooting/restarting your phone.

Try taking your SIM card out, cleaning it and testing it in another phone. And borrow another person's working SIM card and insert it into your phone to see if you can get service.

If your phone has gone bad, you needed to buy a new phone. If the SIM card has gone bad, you need to get a new SIM card or a new esim.

Otherwise, you need to contact a customer service agent:

Is your phone working at all?

Getting g calls? Texts?

Maybe take it out and clean it gently or try repositioning it.

@Ono   Have you tried the sim in another working phone to see if that gets it going again or at least if it works in another phone?  If you can't do that try reset network settings.  Does nothing work at all, no data, texting or voice calls?
