Sim Card not working, due to porting or other issue?

So last week I bought a public mobile sim card, activated it, selected a plan, and everything. I tried porting the number, but It didn't work for some reason, my ols sim card still works, and the new sim card doesn't work at all.

I even switched the number on the public mobile sim card to a new number to see if it works, but still nothing. I don't know if the sim card doesn't work due to maybe the failed port, but it should work with another number regardless, I don't understand why it's not working, I've already payed for a 90 day plan, and I'm unable to use the service I payed for.

Anyone find an actual solution for the porting issue or other people's Sim card not working? When I puyt the sim card into my "unlocked" phone it asks for an unlock code, and just says network locked, and no phone or anything. What is potentially the problem here, the porting, the sim card itself, or just lack of service by public mobile? I'd like to start using my new sim ASAp, especially since I already payed for it, and if it goes more than 2 weeks without working then there has to be some way to refund it, I payed for 90 days of service and I expect 90 days of service.

Ok thanks, I'll contact a moderator.

Could it be a problem with the sim card activation? That the physical sim card didn't properly activate or something, so it won't work? That would be an independent issue from the port.

The port isn't priority right now for me, obviously I want port as soon as possible, but firstly I just want the sim card to actually work in my phone first and foremost. Then I can at least downgrade my fido plan and use another phone for the talk/text while at least using PM for data. I don't want a whole month to pass before my PM works, since then I'd spend the unsused $40 for PM, and another $40 to have an actual working phone.

And I don't want to port to end up working while the sim still doesn't work so I'd left with no working sim card.

Also, the factory reset link you gave me seems like a seperate issue, since that was strictly data while mine is no service or network working whatsoever, and I factory reset my phone recently anyways, so it doesn't seem relevant to my situation.  Thanks anyways.

OK You may need to do a factory reset to connect to PM network:

BUT you also said your old SIM still works. This indicates your port-in has failed and you need to join the queue by following this procedure: Contact moderators. The backlog is such that it may be several days before you have a response. Robot Frustrated

Since your old SIM works, just keep using it until the PM SIM is functional. Do not close your old account; that will happen automatically. Or if you have another phone, use your old SIM in it and carry on with two phones

While you are waiting some people have found this procedure helpful:  http://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Discussions/How-I-fixed-porting-my-mobile-number-and-p....

Sorry I didn't really notice you had two issues.

It's definitely unlocked, It's an LG G4 H812, and bought it unlocked on amazon, not from a provider. I've used it with fido and and I also used it with a sim card in Germany when I was living there for a couple months, so it's definitely unlocked.

Based on your description your unlocked phone is NOT unlocked. The message "enter unlock code" means the phone is still locked.

The definitive test is to try someone else's SIM in your phone and your PM SIM in another unlocked phone.

What is make/model of your phone? Where did you get it?
