I am a legacy customer and I was asked to either switch with koodo or stay with public with 5$ of incrrease ! It’s really dissapointing! Increasing the monthly bill is just unfair for ppl like us who has been with PM for 7 years ! I want to ask you guys should I go with Koodo ? Or what will I do ? I feel very bad to quit with public by can’t pay more 😭

@wetcoaster Thanks. Eyesight is dimished; can't tell 22 from 28! Brutal price increase though, 25 to 33 in ~6 months.

Each time you call in, they bill you a set amount based on what action you ask them to do (btw Telus is the same thing! They also charge you for calling in. I never heard of this on Rogers / Bell / Freedom)
There are certain transactions that Koodo is free for, but nearly every important one you need to pay per call.

Weren't there reports, the last time the transfer for legacy customer was offered, that calls to Koodo's call center would not be free?
Thanks for taking the time to share / confirm this piece of information!

@Luddite wrote:@Farjy It's a small adjustment but I believe as of May 9 you would receive $4/30 days for loyalty. https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Rewards/Eligible-rewards-for-those-on-grandfathered-p...
You currently don't have data so I am sure the 3G speed will be fine. I have have the provincial version of the plan you are considering with a long distance add-on as mimmo suggested.
If you do nothing your $28 will go to $31 not $33/30 days.
Good luck.
My math is based on this: publicmobile.ca/serviceupdate

@Farjy in most cases new plans on Public would be cheaper than your legacy plan right now
No real feedback on Koodo plans yet since noone has posted what they have been offered (if you do give them a call report back to us here)
In general main reason to go to Koodo is going postpaid with a hardware upgrade
If that is not important to you I suggest it probably is better here

@Farjy to get that plan you just need to call 611 and confirm you will lose 611 access.
you will get $3 for loyalty and $2 for autopay.
to save an additional $5 select provincial calling and buy the $15/ 400 minutes long distance. this i a savings if you use < 133 minutes /month calling outside your province. added bonus you can call usa and some international countries.
I have the addon for over a year now and have only used 60 minutes or so.
Edit: the new plan you show is using the 3g speed, and you currently have full LTE. for the data quantity you selected then 3g should be fine

Thanks a lot for replying !although I have a good credit score but I really don’t want to check them . Yes being a legacy customer I get the access to call 611 but honestly I never had to call them that much ( calling them talking with a robot )How about if I create my plan for 3 months like this ! This will be exact the plan that I have right now ! Only I will be paying 35$ per month if they accept me for loyality and get auto pay rewards ! Let me know plese !

Before you make a decision, you should also look at what other providers are offering as you may find a deal elsewhere. Because you are not on contract you can go to any provider. If your phone is locked to the Telus network, it can be unlocked for free now.

@mimmo wrote:@Farjy what is your current plan and future cost and what are your calling (provincial/Canada wide) data /month.
I agree with @imm1304 one of the current pm plans could work and you can get 5$ off via rewards.
If memory serves me right (There was a very long conversation about switching to in-market plans with the OP sometime last... I think November? Looks like they didn't switch then...) I believe they are on the $28 Canada wide talk and text which will be $33 as of February 15. I have put the in-market plan options in the post I linked to.

@Farjy It comes back to the question that I have thrown your way before: How much do you rely / need customer service over the phone?
Please see this post if you are willing to rely on this community and the Public Mobile moderator team for support when you have a problem and safe money while staying wit Public Mobile: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/Effective-February-15th-changes-are-hap...

Hey @Farjy,
There is a 3rd option: Change your plan to one of the current in-market plan with PM.
Have a look: https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/plans
The 90-day talk and text plans are most likely cheaper than anywhere else.
What makes this deal better is that you become eligible for rewards. Your loyalty reward will be $3 per 30 days and if you enrol in autopay, that is another $2. To change the plan, you have to call 611 because the new PM plans are online-only... no more call center once you switch. You have to mangae you account by yourself by either getting help through this community forum or by signing into your selfserve account. Forum mods are online 7 days a week and can be reached via private messages if you need help with your account.
Transferring to Koodo is good too as you retain the call center support.. if that is really important to you. BUT, Koodo plans are postpaid. So you will be switching from PM's preapid plan to Koodo postpaid which involves a credit check.
Staying on your current plan and paying $33/month seems like the least desirable option... probably on purpose by PM. BUT, if you want to avoid a credit check at all cost, AND having a call center access is absolute must for you, then $33/month on the current plan is your only option. Depending on your province, there may be other carriers you may wish to look into as well.
