Is there a known issue regarding activation after top up payment is made? I have topped up and my account says it is active, but no internet connection.

It has been reported in the past that selecting the Lost/Stolen function for a couple of minutes and then putting it back will solve the issue.
This needs to be done using selfserve online.
Edit: Also make sure that you have available data when you login into your account.
