It's taken me a couple of months to solve my problem of leaving the wifi at home and having the data automatically turn on. I was having to *restart* my phone every time. Searching the internet left me looking for "turn packet data on", which didn't exist on my phone. The lesson learned is that when you know your APN settings are accurate and your Data is turned on - check all of your wifi options if you have a Samsung.
The solution was in the Wifi settings:
Settings >> Wifi >> *more*(or top right 3-bars) >> tap on SMART NETWORK SWITCH >> (choose or check that it is) ON
NOTE: Make sure you have a data plan; data is turned ON; and that you are not in airplane/flight mode.
**NOTE: You do need to restart your cell phone in order for this change to take effect.
I'm probably the only person dumb enough to have not checked the Wifi settings but hopefully this saves some else time in the future if you have a cheap Samsung phone - cheers, Greg
