If I do not have service, how long will the text be held and delivered until I do have service?

There's also a limit to how many messages can be stored before they're overwritten.
I don't know the limit for plaintext SMS messages. I haven't tested the limits but I know (an unknown number of) texts go missing when I my phone gets flooded with many incoming messages the moment it gets signal and returns to the service area.
I have tested the MMS limits. The network will only store the ten most recent MMS photos/attachments. Sometimes less, if they have unusually large file sizes.

@Retlaw58 Telus server will hold it for 5 days

The TELUS network will store and attempt to deliver the text messages to the phone for up to 5 days. If the messages are not delivered after 5 days they will be permanently deleted from the network.
