Roaming in US

I paid for roaming while in Florida and NY- couldn't get any service. Has anyone else had this problem?

HI @Crispyshirts   yes, it is a bit trouble at the moment.

Using local data prepaid would be a workaround.  You can then use VoIP app, such as Textnow, to make free calls and text with the Mobile data or Wifi.  It is likely cheaper. Get the prepaid sim from a brand with stores and you can ask them for help if anything not goes right

@Crispyshirts  I think it’s cheaper and definitely reliable to just get local pre paid data SIM card  on your trips abroad

Wow sounds complicated. Could only make calls- couldn’t get/send any texts and didn’t have data.

According to Public Mobile:

PM will have T-mobile 2G network for US talk. Try to manually connect to T-mobile.

Roaming is for Data only. Voice and SMS text will still work.

Data will work on LTE, but will switch over to 2G to make a call.

However, the quality of service will vary depending on the different coverage areas when roaming in the USA.

Lots of people have problems with talk. But when connected to only T-Mobile, data and text should be fine. Your phone would need to be able to drop down to the old 2G for talk. T-Mobile of course would need to be providing coverage wherever you are. That always varies as with any provider.

@Crispyshirts  Make sure your manually connected to T mobile and reboot your phone
