@Supermanny29

Well you are fortunate to have many cheap options for plentiful data plans with local sim cards.

https://toomanyadapters.com/buying-sim-cards-south-east-asia/

You may even want to consider a global roaming sim card that allows service in Canada and the US to supplement your pm plan when you get back. I believe it's 3ComHK that has 30GB+5GB social data for 365 days good for Hong Kong, Canada, US, NZ, UK and Australia for about $44 cdn or activate it when you are about to come back.....

Your options are more limited now that you have left Canada but if you are not on a grandfathered plan or the $10 plan already and you will be away more than 90 days then scheduling a plan change on next renewal to the $15 plan can allow you to suspend and reactivate your plan to maintain your account and phone number for nearly a year for $45 - rewards.

Here are your options for your pm service.....

Spoiler
  1. You can turn off autopay and allow the account to suspend at the of your current 30 day cycle but this is your least advantageous option. Pay and reactivate by day 85 or so.
  2. If you have an account balance that exceeds your plan amount then you need to suspend via the lost/stolen feature in your account before midnight eastern on the evening of your renewal. Then on day 85 or so resume your service to pay and reactivate.
  3. Suspending via lost/stolen before midnight eastern will keep your voicemail active allowing you retrieve voicemail and any verification sent by phone calls. However your rewards will not be applied to your account. CSA contact after paying and reactivating is necessary to have the rewards applied manually.
  4. Voicemail can be accessed by calling your pm number from a different phone by calling your phone # and pressing * once connected and entering your 4 digit voicemail pin #.
  5. If you don't have an account balance or enough balance to cover your plan amount you can suspend via lost/stolen after midnight but before 2 am eastern on the day of your renewal. Once your rewards have been applied (usually by 12:15 am et) then suspend your account. Voicemail access will be lost.
  6. Switching to the $15 plan with rewards helping to cover a partial or full amount of your plan allows you to call forward your pm number to your fongo number  before you leave Canada.. Now any incoming calling to your pm number will ring thru to your fongo number while on wifi or mobile data (w/a local or global sim card) You can access your fongo voicemail for all voicemail messages.

Most important mark on your calendar day 85 of your suspension and day 90. Do not forget when you must unsuspend your account via lost/stolen and/or pay and reactivate your service so you don't lose your phone number and account. Happy travels and Stay--Safe!

To pre-verify your account include your full name, address, email, phone # and 4 digit acct pin #.

Roaming works in US only.

To keep your number while abroad for a longer period of time:

Downgrade your plan to $15 plan.

- If you do not want to pay every month, remove autopay and credit card (just in case).  On next renewal your account will be suspended. You will Not lose your number. Login before 90th day and renew your plan. You will be good for another 90 days.

If you do not mind paying every month a little bit, activate autopay and keep valid credit card on file. Every 30 days your plan will be renewed.

@Supermanny29- Public mobile does not have roaming in Asia.  If you are on auto-pay, then your number will be there when you get back.  See my response in your other post, for additional details in the event that you are not on auto-pay.

@Supermanny29- Once your current plan period expires, you have 90 days to re-activate it, before your number is gone.  If you will be away for longer, you will need to reactivate/pay for your plan (or switch to a lower cost plan) before the end of the 90 days.  Doing this at around 85 days would be best, just in case there is a glitch, or some other problem.
