Replacement SIM card

If I enter a new SIM card number on my account does it replace the faulty one?  Meaning same number, same plan?

yes, login to your My Account, go to Profile page and update the sim card number to the new one.  Then reboot your phone.  The same phone number and plan will then be using the new sim card
