I initially tried setting up my son's phone with a ESIM from my phone and all his info ported onto my phone. I've now bought him a SIM card and am trying to register him but it is not connecting to a network... Not sure how to resolve this.

So, you have created the new account using the same email address?
you need PM to sort this out. Open a ticket (but they won't reply you until tomorrow, support centre already closed)
Simply open ticket with PM using the Orange Chatbot icon on the lower right. (For 2FA code when login, use email to receive code instead of SMS if you cannot receive the text on the phone.) When open Chatbot ticket, Type the question Submit ticket and select Contact Us to get to ticket open screen
But if you have trouble using Chatbot to open ticket, then message PM using this link:

Did you use a different email address for your son's account? With PM system, one email for one account
If you used your own e-mail from the first account and setup your son's account, you would have screw up the first account
