Shoot! ... I thought I got it! :S
I'm not techy, but with google's help I found my APN settings.. and it was set to my old provider.
I clicked + to add a new one and gave it the name Public Mobile, and manually set all those other parts as you specified... then I saved it...
But now I cannot select it...
-- The one with the old provider has a bubble and it is selected. And the new one I created doesn't have a bubble, so I cannot select it...
Help?

Which phone model?
Does talk and text work?
New customer versus old?
Maybe try rebooting phone. Then network reset.

Try setting APN type as default,mms ?
