Hi, I'd like to let my number out but keep the pm service I have and get a new number. Is this possible?

Generally, carriers have resisted swapping phone numbers between accounts. To do as you are saying, you would have to have to first get your current phone number switched to a different Public Mobile account and new number assigned to the Public account that you have now.
When you port your Public Mobile number out, the account and plan automatically gets cancelled.
Technically, carriers have done this stuff in the past, but customers are often given push-back about this request. It's not something every customer service employoee is going to know how to do. Don't be surprised if the answer from Public Mobile is one that you weren't hoping for. But it can't hurt to ask them.

@djimbe, it is possible but the only way it would be possible is to create a second account and pay for a 30 day service. Otherwise if you port out your current number, your current account will get closed. So to keep your plan open this is what you can do.
Plan A =Current Plan
Plan B= New Plan
Create Plan B and select the number you want. Message the moderators to move #from Plan A to Plan B and get a new number when its switched to Plan A. Your current number is now sitting on sitting on Plan B. You can now port out your current number and it will close Plan B, but Plan A is still active with a new number. Cheapest Plan is $20 for 30 day text only. So if your plan and number are worth that to you that is the way to go about it.
