Porting a number

My Sasktel landline is confirmed portable by SaskTel but your Transfer Phone Number tool says the number is not available in port. Please check whether this number can be manually ported or wether this exchange is unsupported on Public mobile.

@Joss88

Your porting issue has  nothing to do with Sasktel.  But let me explain again:

  • Your number is in Mankota
  • Telus, parent company of Public Mobile has no "operation" (technicallybit is called rate center) in Mankota and hence cannot take the phone number
  • Since it is a Telus problem , SaskTel cannot change this fact and cannot help
  • In summary:  Your number cannot be moved into Public Mobile

just spent over an hour with Sasktel, they got teams involved, some have reported back that there is no problem porting this number there is a further team looking into it they will get back within next few days after doing a deeper dive. I reported problem to ccts hopefully we can get this sorted

@Joss88

This has nothing to do with the number is locked or not.  It is a technical limitation

While most phone numbers can be transferred between carriers, not all numbers can be moved everywhere.
Number portability is limited by the “rate centre,” which is the geographic location tied to the phone number. Whether a number can be transferred depends on whether Telus operates in that specific rate centre.

And unfortunately,  Your number cannot be transferred into Public Mobile or Telus family

306-478-xxxx is a Mankota number. Only SaskTel has a Rate Center there. Basically SaskTel is the only provider that has operation in Mankotal. So, your number can only be moved between SaskTel and its sub-brands

You will have no choice but to either pick a new number or stay with SaskTel or it's flanker brands like Lüm Mobileor , noSTRINGS Prepaid

I just called Sask tel again today they emphatically stated that all Sasktel numbers had been unlocked and this was a problem with Telus not them

once I port it to a Sask tel mobile carrier, can I port it again?

@Joss88

Yes, number cannot be transferred into Public Mobile, in fact it cannot be ported any provider other than those "sub-brands" of Sasktel like Lüm Mobileor , noSTRINGS Prepaid

Most numbers can be ported, but some numbers have to stay with 1 or 2 particular carriers due to "location restriction".    When Sasktel confirms it can be ported, it still does not guarantee you can port the number into all mobile carriers, there could still be restrictions.  It is possible that it can be port into some providers but cannot be ported into others

Give us the area code and the next 3 digits and I can confirm if your number can be ported into Public Mobile.

@Joss88

if you confirmed with Public Mobile transfer number tool that you cannot port...then the number can't be ported.
