Points System

This new point is confusing.I’m not receiving as much points as I should. I’ve been with PublicMobile for 4 years now (2019). I referred 3 people who are still active. I have autopay which should give $2 off/month. With the old reward I know I would be receiving $9 off every month. But with the new point system I received 1.50 points  equivalent to $1.50 for the last two months. Can someone help?

@Siant  Yes, no change with friend referrals, except you get points instead of $ rewards.  That's why if you stopped getting the 3 points from friend referrals, and if you are certain your friends didn't leave PM, open ticket with support as advised above

With the rewards program I would be receiving $4 for loyalty + $3 with referrals and 2 autopay. But even with the new system shouldn’t I get 3 pints for the referrals every month?

@Siant

I would not say it is gone, it is just not as good

Even with new Public Points, you are saving 5% on all spending, you are also getting 10 points ($10 worth) every Anniversary, and you can still earn Friend referral points (1 point per friend per cycle).  With PM's plan price pretty much the same as other providers, the Public points still give you a 5% or more saving then using the same plan with other providers.  So, don't get discouraged, you still saving money, just not as much as before

I regret agreeing to the new system.

@softech The only good thing about PublicMobile now gone

@Siant

for the friend credit, yes, you will still eat 1 point per friend per cycle like the old system. So, even without Autopay and monthly loyalty rewards, you should be getting 5%×Plan amount + 3 point (since you have active friends).  So, it does sound odd you only received 1.5 point in the last 2 months, maybe the friends points were not added

Please login My Account, go to Rewards page and click Go to Rewards Portal. There click Point history to review the points you got. If it has no sign of those friend rewards point, please open ticket with PM support for them to check again

The most significant impact to you switching to the public points is in the Loyalty area.

Previously, you would have received $4 per cycle, which equals $40 a year.

Currently on public points, you're only going to receive 10 points a year which is equivalent to $10.

The $2 auto pay is replaced with 5% value of your plan converted to points, in your case which only comes to $1.50.

The referrals convert dollar for dollar so every $1 referral equals one point.

I joined after the points system came in and was disappointed to find that there was no longer an autopay benefit as there was on the rewards system, so you definitely lost $2 by switching to points.  I'm not sure about the 1.5 points when you have 3 referrals who are still active, I'd have thought that should be 3 points per month.  But how did 3 people (if $1 each in rewards) giving $3 every 30 days plus $2 for autopay = $9?  Oh wait, loyalty rewards?

You can compare points with the old rewards here: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/reward-rules

@Siant sorry, it is true that the new point system is not as good as the legacy one.  Therefore, community members pretty much all agree to stay in the legacy rewards program.

it is too late for you now. Once you migrated, there is no way to go back to the legacy program 😞
