Coming back to Public from Koodo after 6 years absence.
I assume I will start a new account with a random number first.
How do I transfer my 20yo phone number from Koodo to Public in a few months, when my contract ends?
I've done it ages ago going from Telus to Public, and Public to Koodo(that was automatically done at the shop)
Please send me a link to the proper post with the steps.
Thank you in advance!
PS: wish i could get all my previous achievements back hahaha.

HI @VesnaT
does not matter
some people would keep the old sim card until no servcie, that would means the port is done
after you see your old sim does not work, insert the PM sim card

The question may seem silly but - when exactly do I insert the new SIM card? After the transfer of old # is completed or during? Thanks

are you on Koodo postpaid or prepaid now?
if you are with Koodo prepaid, you have no choice but need to get a new number first, and ask PM support by ticket to manually port the number for you
If you are using Koodo Postpaid you can choose to port the number when you activate. The step to port the number is at Step 5, after payment step.
or you can choose a new number in step 5 first . After the account is fully setup and functional, then you login to My Account, go to Profile page and click Transfer Phone number

yes, i understand that i can and that the other services will be canceled.
My question is, how do i do it? Will that option available though the app/web?
Or, Will i need to be chatting Here with PM reps? (if those still exist)
PS: I can't browse the app, without having an active account. Don't want to start the new line too early, if I won't be able to transfer the number later on( I understand i can do it at the time of creating the new account)

So I'll be using a random number on my second phone for now( no need to check the reception, as it is the same network as Koodo)
Question is, will i have an option to change the number in October? Or should i wait until a week before my contract runs out??
Numbers can be ported/transferred to another carrier wheneven you wish. However, porting out immediately cancels the service at the originating cell phone carrier.

yes, you can first get a new number
If you currently have Koodo Postpaid, after the new PM account all set, you can then request porting from My Account. you can do so via My Account using the browser. Go to Profile page, click Transfer phone number and enter the Koodo account number. Then Koodo will send you a text for your permission to port, just reply yes.
If you crrently have a Koodo Prepaid account, then you will have to ask PM to help to port instead of via My Account.
Hope this helps
