I just subscribed to Public mobile and imported my phone number from my previous supplier. When I call someone, they can see my imported number but when I text them, they see the new number associated with the new Public mobile Sim and not my imported number. Also when I sign in to the app, the double authentication defaults to the sim card phone number and not my imported number...

If you replied to the text from your previous carrier with YES confirming you are porting over to PM then just reboot your phone with the PM SIM in your phone so power off then back on. Note that your old SIM will continue to work up to about 2 or so hours.
If you missed this critical step. You will need to contact a CS_Agent to have your old carrier to resend the confirmation with your old SIM in your phone.
