You can use a VoIP like TextNow for free calling and texting on free wifi like at Starbucks, malls, home wifi etc. You will need to pick a secondary number.
If you and your friends and family are on WhatsApp. You can use that as well for free calling and texting.

log in to your Public Mobile account > Rewards...check to see if you have at least 15 points to redeem for renewal instead of regular payment with your card.

There is no way to extend service without a pay.
Same as you cannot get out of the grocery store without paying...
Your account will be suspended and service will resume after you pay the bill. But if you have registered credit card - why to worry??? Card will be charged (if you did no go over your credit limit) and service will continue as usual. Just do not keep account in suspension over 90 days as your account will be deleted, number lost.

Understood was just hoping I could delay for the two days somehow. Even if I had to pay a bit to do so

yes, PM is prepaid, and you have to pay before you use the service
if you need to hold off the payment but keep service, you need to look for postpaid provider like Koodo or Telus. But those would need credit check as well as you pay a bit interest for late payment

if you have no available funds, then you can login My Account, Payment, Manage Subscription and turn off Subscribed there. With that turned off, PM won't charge you for renewal. When you are ready to pay, login My Account again and there should be a button Pay and Resume service.
And of course, remember to go back the same page on My Account to enable Subscribed to enable Autopay
