Pausing or temporarily cancel data only plan

Hello all,

My parents thinking of switching to public mobile services. My parents have two phones and two tablets with data. I know public mobile do have data only plans.

The plan is my parents will switch their two phones. They would like to use their tablets during camping in the summer. And they would not like to use phone tethering therefore they would like to use data directly from the tablets.

What's are the options in this kind of situation since there are no share data plan? I understand the account become inactive after 90 days without auto pay. What are the requirements to reactivate the accounts if this choice is ideal?

Thanks,

@staronline1and2   Personally I do not think Public mobile is competitive in teh data only plans.  you might be better off looking at one of teh other companies "man's best friend"  they i belive still offer a tablet plan for $15/month.

as mentioned after the 90 day period the sim becomes useless, you need to buy a new one and create a new account with a new email that has never been used with PM

Hmm... perhaps they can change the plan to smaller data plans.

@staronline1and2 After 90 days the account is removed and cannot be reactivated, to continue with PM they would need to buy new SIM cards and open a new account. There are no fees for closing the account or reactivating it within 90 days.

I noticed you said up to 90 days. What's happened after 90 days? Do you have to pay the fees or get the new SIM card?

@staronline1and2 They could use the same SIM cards for up to 90 after their plan runs out.
All SIM cards do require selecting a phone number to register, even for data only plans.

Thank for the reply!

I do not think switching the SIM cards is an solution for them. They don't mind having four accounts. They don't care about the phone numbers for their tablets either. The real questions are, can they use the same SIM cards after their deactivation?

@staronline1and2They could change to a data only plan and use the SIM cards in their tables instead, If they wanted to have both a data plan and a standard plan on multiple devices they will need to get another SIM card for each device and open new accounts for those devices.
.After 90 days the accounts cannot be reactivated and you lose the phone number. Before the 90 days is up you can just add funds to the account and reactivate it, there are no fees for reactivation.
