Hi all,
I am looking to buy a new phone, and I was looking through the certified, pre-owned phones that PM has on offer. I had found one I thought would work well for me, but every time I go to purchase it, it's adding a new SIM card to the cart. I tried to log in so the system would recognize I'm a current client and that I don't need a new SIM card, but my login credentials won't work on the website where the purchase is made. Do I need to get a new SIM card for the new phone? I thought I could just transfer the SIM I have in my current phone.
Does anyone have experience buying one of these phones? Do they work as well as the website says, or am I better off finding a phone that isn't pre-owned?
Also, since I'm keeping my options open, I was hoping for some phone recommendations! I currently have a Galaxy Grand Prime that I got in 2015. I've been very happy with it for the last 5 years, but it's (probably past) time for it to retire. The phone I was looking at in the pre-owned section was a Samsung Galaxy S8, but I honestly only picked that because of the brand recognition, and it was sub-$400. I'm not too attached to any specific brands, but Samsung has done well for me in the past. If anyone has any recommendations for a phone that is reliable, has decent battery life, and can handle a few apps for around $400 (or below), I'd love to hear them!
Thanks so much! Happy Holidays!

I have also been partial to Samsung, but my friend on an iphone says my emojis dont look right. Not sure if that will be an issue for you
If looking for certified pre-owned, proce compare with Orchard and Mobile Klinik. Both will ship across the country. With Orchard, you have to pay extra for a 1 year warranty, but it covers very different things than Mobile Klinik's free warranty.

Thanks for your suggestion, and for the link to that other thread! I'll look through some of those phones and do a bit of research before making a decision, but I really appreciate the assistance!
If you don't mind my asking, where did you buy your phone from at that price?
I'm guessing it was probably from the same place as I got the same phone, i.e. Costco. I got mine when it was on sale, for $50 off the regular price, which, IIRC, made it $155. I'm pretty sure they no longer have that particular phone on their site, but have some newer, higher spec'd Moto model(s) for a similar, ~$200 price tag.
Personally, I'm quite likin' my G7 Play, BUT, I'm not a power user, i.e. my phone is for phone calls, texts, the occasional weenie game, and in even rarer circumstances, surfin' the net, when a larger screen isn't convenient to get to. Given my use case, I charge the phone approx. every 3 days, and the screen is < 6", so it fits in my pocket better than many newer phones. If you need a larger screen, more RAM, more storage, a larger battery, etc., then you should be looking at something else.

dude65 had also mentioned the Moto G7, but the Play version instead. I have a few different suggestions, so I'm going to do a bit more research before making a decision 🙂
Thank you!
The Moto G7 Plus is all around a better device than the Moto G7 Play. The Moto G7 Play is marketed as more of a budget device. It's just a matter of price comparision and whether you're comfortable with having a device that has a manufacturer's warranty that isn't valid within Canada.

I always have at least I've spare one that's almost always on me and one on the drawer. You never know if you w run into somebody being slathered by their cell provider.
I hadn't thought of it like that! Thanks for this answer, if I end up ordering a phone through PM I'll make sure I hold onto the extra SIM 🙂
