Hello,
My wife and I are looking to switch over to PM for the $40 plan. We were wondering if we travel to countries not on the long distance list, do we still have service? Currently, with our fido and koodo plans, we still get reception and can make and recieve calls. We are more concerned if we travel to dominican or asia and family members have no way of reaching us. We don't mind paying in advance for add-ons but want to know we can be reach when we are roaming in case of emergencies.
Thanks

Thanks for the replies. My phones are unlocked.
I usually use a sim from where i am travelling to but we always have a phone that roams only for emergency calls for work/family. I run a buisness so sometimes i need to be reached asap and would be easier to just have a phone that roams.
Hopefully the us roaming annoucment will include roaming options for orther countries. We would make the jump right away if there was roaming.

@zoomzoom87 I agree with the sentiment, and the Fido phone will definitely need to be unlocked before @navicular can move that line to PM, but their Koodo phone will not need to be unlocked to work with PM, so it may or may not already be unlocked for use internationally. For them, I would still recommend it, but you can't assume it will be

@navicular I understand the confusion--the long distance country list is for calls made while you are physically in Canada, not while roaming internationally. If you need a service that roams outside of Canada (and soon the USA), then PM is not a good fit for you, unfortunately.

You won't have service outside of Canada. They are supposed to announce a roaming plan for the US soon but if you go anywhere else you will most likely have to get a SIM card for that country. The best thing to do is to get the local SIM card when traveling Andy forward you PM number to a VOIP service that you can use on your phone.

You will not have service while travelling to other countries. PM is hopefully anouncing a roaming package to teh US this month. If you are travelling a lot I would look at a sim from ROAM mobility or a SIM from the country you are travelling to

Hello @navicular as of right now there is no international roaming. US roaming is expected to come some time in November, but as far as overseas your best bet would be to get a SIM card in the country wherever you are travelling. I know I'm Europe this is super easy.
