Not able to download picture messages

Recently switched my plan back to the 1 gig , unlimited canada calling, after being on a Us/can plan while traveling.  Now I can no longer receive picture messages.  Just tells me "failed to download "  I have checked everything I can think of on my phone. Data is on , wifi on.  Chat box wasn't working , so no help with this.

No, cannot send or receive MMS. I have a Samsung jp3?  I get hand-me-down phones, so could be around 2017. I am going to try a network reset.  I appreciate the reply,  but have little understanding of technology lol.  May be time for a newer phone, I guess.

Yes, rest of phone is working. But cannot send or receive pictures/mms. I will try the network reset.  I am not technically inclined at all.  Thanks

@Jacksprat12

Is rest of phone working?  ie. talk, regular text, data?

Might want to try a reboot of phone.  Network reset of phone (note this will erased any saved Wifi passwords)

Might also want to check your APN settings:

New Settings:

APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN Type: default,supl,mms
                             or             default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri

@Jacksprat12

can you send MMS?  What phone you have? brand and model?

PM has made some system change, phone released before 2017 might be affected by this announcement

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/Picture-and-Group-Messaging-End-Date-Fe...

if you are using a device that released after 2017, generally, you can still make it work by simply clicking on Reset All networks or Reset network settings to get the latest APN

Also, you can make a manual update, here are the old and new settings

Old settings:

APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN Type: default,supl,mms
                             or        default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri

New Settings:

APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN Type: default,supl,mms
                             or             default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri
