Hi there,
We have an active phone number with Sasktel in SK, but when trying to activate account it says the number is not a valid Canadian number. Is there any way around this so we do not have to get a new number? Our other phone number that was on the joint Sasktel account was able to transfer to Public no problem. Can't seem to figure out why one Sasktel number transfers but the other does not.
Thanks,
PRP

hey.. not sure if you have a chance to read another mystery yesterday about SaskTel number
In that particular one, NPA clearly shows Bell does not have a rate centre in Stoughton , only SaskTel has. But Bell eligibility test still saying eligible. Do you aware if any "secret" deal between Sasktel and Bell?
Like this one, clearly no rate centre for Bell but Bell eligibility test still say call them to confirm
That's interesting. I was only going by the number portability rules. I suspect that in the case that you're mentioning that Saktel's member status within the Bell World Alliance may come into play here.

306-549-xxxx is a Hafford number
In Hafford, ONLY SaskTel has operation (Rate centre) there. Telus does not have a rate centre in that city and hence the number cannot be ported into PM
Rogers does not have a rate centre there and hence the number cannot be ported into Rogers family as well
Seems like neither Bell has a rate centre there, Bell's eligibility test returns: Call 1-888 4 MOBILE to verify.
So, it look like the number is not very portable. You have to either stay with SaskTel with that number or you have to pick a new number from PM if you want to join PM
The phone number isn't transfereable to any carrier.

@paulremipoulin It is not a matter of monopoly or not.
Porting eligibility depends on the city/neighbourhood where the number belongs to. In order for the number to be able to port into PM (or other provider), Telus/PM (or that other provider you want to port the number into) has to have operation in that neighborhood. This is call Rate centre. Telus must have a rate centre in the city that ties with the number you want to be ported

check again here to confirm if the number really cannot be ported into PM
https://secure.koodomobile.com/checktransfereligibilityparrot/default.do?lang=en&appname=otherportal
Also, what is the area code and the first 3 digits? maybe i can confirm the porting eligibility for you as well or where it can be ported.

@paulremipoulin @I think it has to do with the monopoly of the Carriers a Sasktel number can only be ported to bell , were you are are is limited in that regard
