Hi, I’m a new customer and have activated my sim card. I set up my voicemail with public. I can call out and text but I can’t receive them. My daughter told me that it goes right to my old voicemail with virgin. My data also works. I’ve tried removing my SIM card for a minute but that doesn’t help.

I had the exact problem and it can be very frustrating. BUT...... in my case the problem was with the switching phone numbers from my previous carrier (porting), Speakout Wireless. It took 24 hours but all is well now. I read countless possible solutions and in the end I messaged the moderators. Camelia got back to me and advised that it might take a while which in itself was reassuring.

It’s been resolved. The port was being rejected by virgin. Within 30 min I had service. Thank you Public!

@Glamourlash3d It may take up to 2 days to complete porting your old number to PM. Just be patient. Welcome to PM!


@sunflowershine not for mobile-to-mobile, that should be done within a matter of a few hours.  I've never ported from Virgin but have personally ported from Telus (took seconds) and Fido (about a half hour), and have helped other friends port and they were all within simlar timeframes. EDIT: oops wrong thread

@Glamourlash3d  Put in your old sim card, is it still working? Use that sim until it stops working, if its been more than 48 hours I suggest sending a message to the moderator team. Click this to send them a message.

If you just requested to port in your number from Virgin, please give about couple of hours to complete. You will get a text once porting is successfully complete. 

 

It sounds like the port is stuck as its been more than 12 hours. I would suggest you to send a private message to the Moderator_Team and they will get in touch with you shortly.

Sounds like symptoms related to a partial number port. When did you request to port the Virgin number to PM? It's likely still in progress and not completed yet.
