New Subscription, usage SMS very wrong

Hi,

I signed up for PM yesterday and haven't left the house since then (I've been on wifi since then). IE: 100% of my data usage has been on wifi. Today I received 2 SMS messages within a minute of each other stating that I had used 75 and 95% of my usage respectively. I checked my account which states that I have used 0.1 MB of 3G data. 

 

What gives? Do I just assume that usage SMS from PM are incorrect?

Yep, just as you suspected, data has been cut off after 12MB. Not a great first experience with PM.

Yes, I'm an iphone user, but wifi assist has been turned off. 

 

However, I would imagine that even if wifi assist were on and if it were using data, it would still show up as data usage.

@crossix, do you happen to be an iPhone user?  iPhones have this wifi assist feature that can consume data even when connected to wifi.  This may be the reason for the data leakage.

I would go with your usage history from your self service account.  Probably a glitch in the system with your SMS texts.  Just monitor for the next day or so.  Everything should be fine.

Sounds like glitch. But for peace of mind, it’s not a bad idea to disable all background use of data for your apps, allowing only specific apps as you please. You can also keep your cell data turned right off most of the time, to avoid operating system drains. (It can happen, even if the settings are locked down).

 

 I noticed my self-serve account actually changed data use amounts, dropping back several mb (perhaps fixing mms use vs. actual data use.) Keep an eye on your account, though, and maybe note down what’s recorded, just in case it goes crazy and you need to contact pm moderators.
