I need to have a moderator respond to my request of account closure and refund of account balance because I am having a vocal cord operation that will prohibit me from talking for a time unknown. How do I go about getting this accomplished?

If i port out my number with PM to another provider, will i keep my balance as long as i come back before 90 days? Is the account still active when i port out?

I hope the surgery goes wells. Keeping your service would still allow others to leave you voice messages, and you'd still be able to use text messaging and mobile data. There's also the factor of being able to keep your phone number, especially if you've had it for a long time.

Of course I don't know the details but presumably you are just needing to take a month or two or three “off” and will want your service back. Personally I would think that texting would be invaluable for you to Communicate with if you are unable to speak for some length of time. As mentioned already, if you aren’t on the $15 plan it is very easy to schedule a change to the $15 for your next renewal date which gives you a little bit of data and unlimited texting in and out. And it eliminates any other problems with suspending your plan or trying to preserve an account balance.

Following 🙂
I have wondered about this as well, easy to stop renewals by removing credit card info but if you have a balance large enough to cover your next renewal how do you stop it from renewing. Lost/Stollen was the only possibility I could think of.

The definitions of "a considerable amount" doesn't seem relevant. You get to Suspend your (unpaid) Plan automatically.
Why would you report lost/stolen? It seems like more effort. It seems like it could cause problems downline, perhaps not likely but "minimum risk" is still more than "zero risk".
Is there some advantage from doing it the lost/stolen way, some reason to not do it the no-more-payments way?
@Korth The funds in my account currently are $225. My plan cost is $25 per 30 days. I want to suspend my plan care to share some insight on how to do it other than using the lost/stolen method?

If you have a considerable amount in your account balance you can access your selfserve account and declare your phone lost. You will then have 90 days to declare your phone found and start up your plan again. If you feel you still need to contact a Public Mobile Moderator to discuss your options the submit a ticket. This is completely unnecessary.
If there's insufficient funds in account balance to renew the Plan - and AutoPay is turned off - then it simply won't renew, it'll become Suspended. It will then remain Suspended for 90 days before it is permanently Terminated. You can reactivate a Suspended Plan at any time before it's Terminated by simply prepaying the next cycle, no penalties no additional charges.
If there's a substantial balance on the account or valuable Add-ons or lots of Rewards or even a "grandfathered" legacy Plan which is no longer offered then you might be able to give or sell it to someone else. As easy as logging in to Self-Serve, changing/deleting all personal and contact and payment information, changing the phone number, and passing the SIM card to the new owner.
Text and Data might still be useful even when you're not able to use the Talk.
@Korth There are customers that could have hundreds of dollars in their balance. That's what a considerable amount means.

Have considered selling or giving away your account? Especially if you have referrals. Friends or family? It can be done. NO intervention with a MOD either.

@bennettkelly47 If you have a considerable amount in your account balance you can access your selfserve account and declare your phone lost. You will then have 90 days to declare your phone found and start up your plan again. If you feel you still need to contact a Public Mobile Moderator to discuss your options the submit a ticket.
To submit a ticket to the Moderator Team, please start a conversation with the Public's virtual assistant, SIMon by clicking here or the icon (bottom right of your screen).
If you are still having problems contacting Public Mobile then click here. The link sends you to the private message function and adds the moderator team as recipient for a private message. You just have to enter a title and text in the body of the message describing the problem and post. The message will be received by the moderator team and they will respond to it. You will receive the response in your private message inbox.
Please note that account verification may be required when contacting the Moderator Team

@bennettkelly47So sorry to hear this. PM is prepaid, so usually there's no refunds.
You can disable autopay (via self serve account or by calling 611). At next renewal date, the account will be suspended. And after 90 days of suspension, the account will close automatically.
Alternatively if you find the need to keep in touch with family and friends, you may want to consider switching to another plan.
- texting ($15 plan includes unlimited texting)
- social media ($25 plan includes 1 GB of data)

@bennettkelly47 you can also put the account in lost/stolen mode. after 90 days the account and number are lost

@bennettkelly47 PM is a prepaid service there are no refunds for partial service. To close your account, just remove your autopay credit card. It will automatically close 90 days from suspension. If you have a credit balance, contact the moderators and explain your situation. There are 2 ways to contact the Moderator Team:
Keep an eye on the envelope top right of your screen. The mods answer will show up there. Stay safe.
On a personal note, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Hope to see you posting here with a new account asap.

@bennettkelly47 hi you can close your account by removing your credit card as for refunds there are none since this is a prepaid service

PM is prepaid so there is no guarantee that a refund would be issued. You can try submitting a ticket to a moderator.
If you have autopay setup then remove and after 90 days then your account would be deactivated.
Here’s when and how to contact the Moderator Team:

@bennettkelly47 Sorry, no refunds as PM is prepaid. Just call 611 and turn off autpay. You will have 90 days to reactivate the account.
All the best for a full recovery.
