Hey everyone,
I’m hoping someone here can help me out! I recently upgraded to an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and during setup, it’s asking me to scan a QR code from Public Mobile to activate my eSIM.
I had already converted my SIM on my iPhone 12 Pro Max to an eSIM successfully — everything’s been working fine. However, when I completed that conversion, I only received an invoice/payment confirmation from Public Mobile, not an actual QR code.
Since the iPhone 17 Pro Max only supports eSIM, the only activation options it gives me are:
When I try the transfer option, I’m met with the screen shown in the attached screenshot.
I’ve already reached out to the CS agents, but haven’t received a reply in quite some time — so I figured I’d share here in case anyone else has gone through this and can offer advice.
Thanks so much in advance! 🙏

You'll need to install a new eSim on your new iPhone.
Install the Public Mobile app on your new phone. Do not delete the existing eSim on your old phone, it needs to remain active.
Sign in, go to Account → Purchase SIM card. Choose eSIM and follow “Install eSIM” instructions
Review the order summary at checkout. If you are charged a replacement fee, you can request a refund from support after.
