"I have reached the 30-day limit for number changes due to my relocation from Ontario to Alberta. I am still looking at other provinces and need to update my number for local job/housing searches. Please manually override the 30-day limit on my profile so I can select a new local number immediately."

@Lovelish

add to what @hTideGnow said, this is how 911 works for mobile callers

Here is how emergency services deal with out-of-province mobile calls:

1. Call Routing and Location

  • Tower-Based Routing: Your call defaults to the closest tower, routing you to the local public safety answering point (PSAP) for that area.
  • Enhanced Service Technology: Enhanced systems usually provide the operator with your approximate location and phone number. However, this is based on cell tower data, which can take time to triangulate.
  • No Area Code Required: You do not need to use an area code, even if calling from a different province

2. The Transfer Process

  • Initial Operator: If your call hits a center in the wrong province (common in border areas), the operator will quickly transfer you to the correct, local emergency service.
  • Voice Transfer: Be prepared to repeat your location (Province/Municipality) to multiple dispatchers during this transfer.
  • Don't Hang Up: Stay on the line until the operator tells you to hang up. If disconnected, they will attempt to call you back on your mobile device

hi @Lovelish

you can only change it 4 times every 30 days cycle

but you don't have to change your phone number just because you are in a different province because of 911.  You can update your address on your profile, and of course, you tell 911 where you are.  Even you changed to the same province, they won't know your exact location until you tell them

And the 911 is the same in Canada, it would routed based on your current location (they will get it from network tower).  It is not like you have a Ontario phone number so 911 always go to Ontario 911 centre even you are in Alberta

You are allowed to change your phone number 4 times in 30 days. So you have changed you number that many times already?

If not, log out and try again. If it still fails you would need to create a ticket for a Public Mobile staff member to  change it for you.

hi @Lovelish

there is no "30-day limit for number changes" , you can keep the same number even if you moved to another province.  Or you can login My Account and make the number change yourself.
