I have a number that I received when in Kingston ON. I have moved to Ottawa ON, within the same area code. But my local calls now show up as long distance (from Kingston to Ottawa). Is it possible to keep the same number but have the number now based in Ottawa?

I appreciate your insight. There seems to be a consensus emerging ...

I would have to say no. The prefix is set for Kingston. Granted the area codes may be the same, I say it's set on the prefix itself.

@AJRJ No you would have to pick a new number from Ottawa . But even if it shows long distance you shouldn’t be charged assuming you’re on a Canada wide plan .
