jeevitharavi

Hello Friends,

My phone plan is $40 for NS province. I have rewards like $1 for referring a friend and $2 for automatic pay..so my monthly pay is $37(actual). When I check my master card statement, i found public mobile detecting $42.55 every month. this is not the correct one..How to find a way for this?

Try finding more friends to refer, and get involved  in PM community to earn rewards. Maybe will cover the taxes........at least.

   Unless you are first nations you have to pay taxes. It's a fact of life . However you could move to any of the territories and only pay 5% gst or change your phone number to one from there. There's only two things guaranteed in life ......death and taxes.

You seem to like the move elsewhere suggestion.  No need to move to save taxes in Canada.  Just get a phone number with the right area code.  A 403, 587 area code number will bring taxes down to 5%.

@will13am    The only reason I didn't mention Alberta is its likely come budget time in February 2021 Alberta will have a provincial sales tax but the territories seem to be safe from further taxes increases. Why not move if your unhappy with the cost of living....have you seen the price of milk in nova scotia? An extra 10% tax on meals and liquor store prices about 25% higher than bc which are higher than most other provinces. At least the high cost of living here comes with a lack of winter and a year round outdoor playground.

That is actually the correct amount

$37.00 x 15%  (HST) [$5.55]

TOTAL : $42.55

In Nova Scotia, a sales tax called the HST is charged on most goods and services. The HST is a combination of the federal Goods and Service Tax (GST) and Provincial Sales Tax (PST). It is 15% of the total cost of the item or service being purchased.

@jeevitharavi  it's $37 + 15% applicable taxes = $42.55 every 30 day cycle. Stay safe.

In 50 years, that's over 9000!

But yes. It's tax. Something the Canadian Government is surely starving for these days.

@jeevitharavi As was mentioned, your calculations didn't include taxes of your province. With them, the price is correct.

Government always wants their taxes.  CC payment = $37 + tax of your province.

Tax is included in your payment. 37X1.15 =42.55
