Tonight or rather last night's maintenance was probably due to the new points program roll out. In my experience there is unscheduled maintenance at least once if not twice a week. Sometimes it's only a couple of hours other times for 6 to 8 hours. It's most likely to occur starting at midnight eastern and usually is back online by 4 or 5 am eastern.

I tend to see maintenance whenever there is a change, like a major promo, new plan, or when there is high volume activity (e.g. many new business activations, or high volume of activity in My Account due to existing customers making changes all at once to take advantage of a promo deal). In this case they just launched the new points program so I'm sure there'll be a number of system maintenance due to this rollout. There's always gonna be some bugs here and there when you rollout something major like this.
From what I've seen, maintenance happens much more often than once a month. Once a month is likely closer to the amount of times that it get gets announced ahead of time. I find that the unannounced maintenance windows far outnumber the announced ones and that they happen on a regular basis. As to whether or not it really is maintenance or a default webpage that gets shown to customer when someone goes wrong with the website is something that I wouldn't know.

Well, I hope they refine this program for the better, cause as it stands right now this has Telus wants to make more money, written all over it.

Welcome back @dna2016. So indeed, the new points system. Maybe that was this brief outage. About the only thing I like is being able to see ones anniversary date. The rest...no thanks.

Seems to be. You can do a couple things in the 611 though. What are you wanting to do?
