When I lived in British Columbia, I activated my phone, but I've been living in Calgary from a year ago until now.
However, the tax on monthly payments is currently being applied at 12% as per British Columbia regulations.
If I request to change my number and designate my current residence as Calgary, can I lower the tax to 5%?

tax is based on your phone number's area code. Two ways you can save the tax

Hello @JJang
Common sense would tell you that because you have a BC area code, that is how the taxes are charged. Change it to an Alberta area code, you will see what happens.
British Columbia is one of the provinces in Canada that charges separate 7% Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and 5% federal Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Province GST and HST PST
Alberta | 5% | 0% |
