Loss of local call service

Jada

I am in Vancouver. When I try to use my mobile phone to call a local number. It says carrier charges will apply......it has also said I need to add on long distance time....but I am trying to call local, which is suppose to be unlimited?

To supplement your plan you can always buy an add on of 500 minutes for $5. The unused portion rolls over until exhausted.

Are you just receiving the message? Or is the call not going through. I get that message too if I don't press 1 before any number. But my call still works.

If it is just the message don't worry about it and keep calm and public on! LOL

Have a. wonderful day!

Are you on the $15 plan?

With the $15 plan you are limited to 100 outgoing minutes. Seconds are rounded up to the closest minute. (eg. A 10 second call is rounded up to 1 minute). As well, checking your voicemail with your phone will use up outgoing minutes too. You can use another phone to check your voicemail. Dial your number and press * at the greeting. You can also purchase an add on in self service of 500 minutes for $5. The unused portion is rolled over from month to month until it is used up.

I'm going to assume that the "carrier charges may apply" might have been "long distance charges apply". That isn't the same message that would be heard by a customer if trying to make outgoing call after running out of minutes on a limited plan.

@Jada if you are on @$25 plan or higher, just ignore the message. If less, make sure that you didn't run out of your outgoing mins. Maybe you did, and need to buy 500min addon. Also, add 1 in front of number you call.

@Jada If you're on an unlimited calling plan just ignore that message. To avoid that message always dial 1 in front of the number or just make the change in your contacts.

@Jada which plan do you have? Thanks.I noticed that you are a member here since 2018.

@Jada Try adding a 1 in front of the number, if you are on the $25 or higher plan. If on the limited minute plans, $10/15, check your self service account to make sure that you have minutes, if you dont,  then look into the 500 minute $5 add on.

FYI Its the second set of numbers that determine whether your number is local or not. Ie xxx yyy xxxx. Please check the CNAC website to check if your number is local or not http://www.cnac.ca/co_codes/co_code_status.htm . If it isn't you can change your number to the desired local area code once each 30 day cycle through your self service account.

Stay safe.

@Jadahi are you on the 15 dollar plan did you run out of outgoing minutes? You can check in your self serve account to see if you have any minutes left under plans and add ons
