I sometimes get offered the same plan from Public Mobile to transfer to Koodo. Just wondering if it's worth it and if the service reception is better?

All I seed is the $40 150GB plan.
Thank you
This is my honest opinion. I would walk into a Walmart and go to their mobile sales kiosk. Advise them you're currently with Public Mobile, Telus's third tier and you keep getting offers to port to Koodo but the offers aren't similar to yours. Tell them exactly what plan you have, the amount, data, all the info you can share with them. They will find a plan that might work for you and you can choose from there. WARNING.... I want to say this so you know a head of time. IF you port to Koodo, you WILL lose anything you've paid for in this cycle. So if you're near the end of your 30 day cycle, it's not a huge loss. If you're at the start or middle, you might want to wait till a week to the end of your cycle. Side note, sometimes Walmart also offers gift cards to Wallyworld as a bonus. 🙂

hi @Yossy107
you can login to My Account and check Change Subscription page and check what is being offered
if that is not what you like, you have to check with Koodo store, they can help with porting as well

on top of the phone features, three main reasons people go with Koodo:
- PM has international roaming with its Prostpaid plan. So, if you travel a long and need the SMS and 2FA, Koodo might be an answer
- Another big thing for Koodo is that they have phone lease program. If you need a phone and don't want to pay a big amount upfront.
- Koodo has a bigger VoLTE list. If you have an much older phone or if you have a VoLTE phone but not currently whitelisted by PM, there is a chance it will work with Koodo
but remember, Koodo has prepaid and Postpaid. Koodo Prepaid is pretty much Public Mobile. All the goodies are with Koodo Postpaid
and if you decide to go with Koodo Postpaid, remember to use the Fast Switching service:

Hey @slusagm I'm confident this was just a typo that needs correcting.....
There are perks to going over with Koodo. You just need to ask yourself if it's worth paying a bit extra for them.
For example, they have WiFi calling, PM doesn't. Koodo has data roll over options, PM doesn't. As @slusagm mentioned, which I'm sure they'll edit, Koodo, on top of your regular plan, can purchase overseas usage, PM doesn't. But THE most important thing, Koodo has an 800 number to call to speak to a human if you have problems, PM has these forums.
EDIT: Forgot to answer, reception, IMO, will be the same. I have both Telus and Public Mobile and reception (bars) have always been the same, dropped calls happen on both networks in the same spot which I find funny but eh....

hi @Yossy107
good or bad.
Koodo is a tier 2 provider with more services, like Wifi calling, call blocking or those features
but Koodo usually has more $$ plan. Even the plan is the same price, Koodo tends to adjust price more often the Public Mobile. In last 10 years, PM has only raised price for those in only 5 plans or so, but Koodo had more prike hikes to more different plans
