I have sent the mods a PM on sunday and still waiting but the plan might expire by the time they get back to me, so anyone know if i can just apply for a new number than get my number ported from rogers after?

there's an option in your account to change number. it is really easy to do

To add to what has already been said make sure your account is in good standing as well with regards to payment as it can be held back by the other telco if account is in default.

Yes you can create a new number first and make sure your account is working before you make the port. The promo will still be active since you are just changing your number.
