Increase in data usage after plan change?

I was until recently with an old plan with 3G service and only 250 Mb of data. I have unlimited wifi at home and at work and just don't need a lot of data, except for checking email or using Google map once in a while. I just changed plan recently going to a 4G plan with 500 Mb of data. For my first month, I realized that I used all of my 500 Mb of data after just 2 weeks. And this month, after just a few days, I notice that I used more than 100 Mb already. What could explain this? I did not change any settings on my phone and I usually keep mobile data off when I do not need to use data. What can I do to solve this? Thanks!

It's not 100Mb.  It's actually 100MB. 100Mb is 1/8 of the size.

Thanks. I am indeed able to see my usage in the history. And the next day, I see that the extra 100 Mb of data usage dissapears. This is strange. I still don't understand why Public Mobile does this.

Simply login on the PM app and it will show you the amount of data usage. Swipe down on the screen to update your usage.

OK, but what is the purpuse of this added 100 Mb? How can we know our exact amount of remaining data?

The account will show 100MB used even if nothing has been used.  This doesn't actually reduce the amount that you're able to use.

I have the same problem again today. My data usage history shows that I used less than 30 Mb since Aug 3, but my account summary states that I used 142 Mb. This makes no sense.

Simply login to your account on the PM app or the PM website. Go to the Subscription tab then to View Usage History. You can filter your data usage for 7 to 90 days. Set it to 30 days and click on Data and Apply Filter. It will show the time, date and the amount of data used.

I can't say why your previous usage is much quicker, perhaps it has something to do with the faster speed limit of the 4G plan, some services may adapt to the faster speed and consume more, but the 100MB used may be explained by Public's system. Whenever your phone is connected to the network, the usage will show 100MB more than has actually been used to date.
